James Noone
James Noone has more than 30 years of broad-based experience in Washington, including in journalism, public affairs, law and lobbying, and also has substantial experience in the closure and redevelopment of military installations.
He became a part of Clark & Weinstock in 2008 through a merger with The Washington Group, the former lobbying unit of top-10 public relations firm Ketchum, where he headed The Washington Group's defense, homeland security, and business development practice.
James began his career as a reporter for the Scranton Tribune in the 1960s.
From 1972 to 1974, he was Staff Correspondent for the Washington news magazine National Journal.
In 1974, James joined the U.S. Information Agency, where he served in a number of assignments, including Press Officer at the U.S. Consulate General, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In 1981, he joined the ITT Corporation and served as manager of government relations in the company's Washington office. He was principal in the law and government relations firm of Karalekas & Noone (K&N) from 1988 until October 2004, representing businesses and state and local governments on issues involving the defense department, other federal agencies and Congress. In October 2004, K&N merged with The Washington Group.
James is a graduate of the University of Scranton, earning a Bachelor of Arts cum laude in 1967; the American University School of International Service, receiving a Master of Arts in 1972; and the American University Law School, graduating with a Juris Doctor in 1984.
He served on active duty in the U.S. Navy, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. He subsequently served in the Navy Reserve, retiring as a Captain in 2001. His military awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and Navy Commendation Medal. James is a member of the American Bar Association, Bar Association of the District of Columbia, National Press Club, Reserve Officers Association and the Naval Reserve Association. He serves on the boards of directors of the Naval Historical Foundation, the International Midway Memorial Foundation, and the U.S. Navy Public Affairs Alumni Association.
